LEADER Funding

Introduction

In order to make real improvements in rural Northern Lincolnshire,  LEADER programme money has been awarded to the LAG for distribution to local groups and organisations. In total £2.4 million is available until December 2013.

LEADER funding comes through the European Union, Defra and Yorkshire Forward and is part of the RDPE (Rural Development Programme for England) that looks at a number of areas including agriculture, farm diversification and forestry. However LEADER specifically focuses on rural communities and the issues that they face.

Within Northern Lincolnshire the LAG aims to tackle three key priorities. These are: -
  • Providing/ increasing access to basic services for the rural population
  • Delivering village renewal and development
  • Increasing tourism through conserving and upgrading rural heritage

Rather than just being another funder the expectation is that the LEADER programme and the LAG will be able to kick start communities in Northern Lincolnshire to make real improvements in their local area. Our hope is to leave a lasting legacy for North and North East Lincolnshire.

The LAG is looking to receive funding applications for projects that address the local priorities given above. If your community group feels that it has a project that may be eligible for support from the LEADER programme then please take a look at how our process works and how to apply.
